Bluetooth pairing is the term used to describe the process of connecting two Bluetooth capable devices. This is when your Bluetooth headset and cellphone search for compatible devices and connect with each other. Once a connection is established and secured both devices would be capable of communicating with each other. Sometimes before a connection is established, a pin or personal identification number is needed to “lock” both devices.

Simple Steps in Bluetooth Pairing

The first step in pairing a Bluetooth headset with your Blackberry phone is to enable pairing in your headset. It is a good idea to check if pairing mode is activated in your Bluetooth device as some devices have pairing mode set to off as a default setting. A quick check of your Bluetooth earpiece manual can give you information in setting up pairing mode.

Step 1 Select Options on your Blackberry and then choose Bluetooth

Step 2 Open the Bluetooth menu and check if your Bluetooth earpiece is included in the available devices. If you can’t locate your device, check if your device is within range and has pairing mode activated

Step 3 Select your Bluetooth earpiece to be paired. An “Enter passkey” message is displayed after device selection

Step 4 Enter the device’s passkey to pair it with your Blackberry. Bluetooth devices have a passkey which is used to lock it with a compatible device. This also serves as a way for securing the connection between Bluetooth devices. This passkey can be easily located in your Bluetooth earpiece’s manual.

Tip: 0000 is the default passkey for pairing any Bluetooth device with your Blackberry cellphones. Once you have successfully paired your Bluetooth earpiece. The device will no longer appear when you check for available Bluetooth devices.
